This is the large glass strainer insert that drops into the neck of a Trendglas Jena pot and holds your loose leaf while the tea brews. It is heat-resistant glass all the way through, made in Germany, with no metal mesh and no plastic frame. The advantage of a glass strainer is that there is nothing for tea to soak into. A mesh basket slowly takes on the character of whatever you brew most; glass does not, so a smoky black in the morning leaves nothing behind for the green tea in the afternoon. It also rinses clean under the tap in a few seconds. It fits the MIKO 0.8L and 1.2L, the SOMA+ 0.8L and 1.2L, the NOVA+ 1.2L, the THEO 1.2L, the KANDO 1.2L, the OPUS 1.2L, and the 1.2L water kettle. The perforations are sized for standard loose-leaf tea. For very fine leaf, rooibos, or medicinal blends, the laser-cut infuser has much finer holes and will hold back what this one lets through.
