The Nova water kettle takes its shape from the Nova teapot: the same tapered body and the same wide open handle. It holds 1.2 liters, or 40 ounces, and it boils on the stove rather than needing a base or a cord. The differences from the teapot are worth knowing. The kettle has the traditional Trendglas Jena glass ball lid instead of the teapot's flat infuser storing lid, and the spout is a downspout, which makes it usable for pour over coffee as well as for filling a pot. There is no writing on the outside of this kettle, unlike the other kettles in the line, so it is plain glass all the way around. It is made from Trendglas Jena borosilicate 3.3 glass, highly resistant to water and to neutral and acid solutions. Trendglas Jena is the first and so far the only business certified by the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation. It is safe on gas and electric stovetops, microwave safe with the lid, and dishwasher safe. It measures 4.5 by 8.9 by 6.7 inches. Made with German glass, mouth blown in Hungary.

Borosilicate 3.3 glass 3.3 body and glass ball lid. Gas and electric stovetop safe. Microwave safe with lid. Dishwasher safe. Do not set the hot kettle onto a cold stone or metal surface. Borosilicate 3.3 is chemically inert, so acidic drinks like hibiscus, lemon and rosehip do not attack the glass. It will not corrode, cloud or take on flavor from what you brewed in it yesterday. Only hydrofluoric acid, concentrated phosphoric acid and strong alkali will etch this glass, and only above 212 F, which is to say nothing that belongs in a kitchen.
