White Artisans Playing Cards

Artisan Playing Cards are Theory11's most decorated deck, and this is the White Edition: gold foil hot stamped onto white paper, illustrated by Simon Frouws in South Africa. It was released as the counterpart to the original Black Edition, and the two are usually bought as a pair. The production is the reason people collect these. They are printed at the United States Playing Card Company on FSC-certified paper from sustainable forests, with vegetable-based inks and starch-based laminates, which gives a durable finish without the usual chemistry. Each deck is sealed with a red tax-stamp sticker marked with the month and year of printing, so you can see when your copy was made. The deck has been written about in the May 2013 issue of Departures Magazine, and David Copperfield called them the best playing cards ever produced. That is the kind of claim worth taking with some salt, but the gold foil and white embossing genuinely do look like nothing else on a card table.
