Most gravity tea brewers use a spring loaded valve in the base. It is the part that clogs, sticks and eventually fails. The AIRO does not have one. You brew in the upper glass, and when you lift it clear of the mug the air lock releases and the tea drains through on its own. The set is two pieces of borosilicate 3.3 glass plus a food grade silicone cushion carrying the filter, and a bamboo lid. When the tea is out, the upper brewer rests on the bamboo lid instead of dripping onto the counter. The interior is a zero dead corner design, meaning there is no lip or ridge for leaf to pack into, so rinsing it is the whole cleaning routine. It stands 6.3 in tall and weighs 9 oz, roughly the footprint of a large mug. Hand wash only. Designed in Hong Kong.

Borosilicate 3.3 glass and food grade silicone, with a bamboo lid. Hand wash only. Rinse the brewer straight after use rather than letting leaf dry in the filter. Dry the bamboo lid rather than leaving it sitting wet. Borosilicate 3.3 is chemically inert, so acidic drinks like hibiscus, lemon and rosehip do not attack the glass. It will not corrode, cloud or take on flavor from what you brewed in it yesterday. Only hydrofluoric acid, concentrated phosphoric acid and strong alkali will etch this glass, and only above 212 F, which is to say nothing that belongs in a kitchen.
